Petition, Wisconsin Tavern League to end fraudulent relationship with Rideshare companies

Wisconsin tavern league

Wisconsin Tavern League, please listen to reason

Administrators and members of the Wisconsin Tavern League,

We, the undersigned, represent tavern patrons, transportation providers and members of the general public throughout Wisconsin.

Drivers operating for the rideshare services Uber and Lyft have been documented numerous times violating basic traffic laws, causing uninsured wrecks and assaulting customers in every territory these companies operate through out the world.

Ride Safe ( www.ridesafeworld.com ) has documented hundreds of Uber and Lyft drivers in Madison and Green bay who do not have proper insurance for commercial operations.
Several of these drivers documented also have recent criminal records including DUI/DWI/OWI, assault and even sexual assault convictions.

After recent open records checks on Uber and Lyft drivers in the Green Bay area were conducted, the findings were reported to the Green bay police department, the Ashwaubenon department of public safety and the head ofGreen bay’s Wisconsin Tavern League Don Mjelde.
Don Mjelde is also the owner of ‘Richard Craniums’, a bar located in Green bay.

The Green bay police department has responded very favorably in the public’s interest by making sure that insured and vetted Taxis will be allowed more pick up and drop access at Lambeau field while Uber and Lyft drivers will be more monitored and restricted in their access to Packer fans due to obvious safety concerns.

Though Ride Safe has provided these findings to Green bay’s Wisconsin Tavern League administrator Don Mjelde, Mr. Mjelde has chosen to continue a promotional program between the Tavern League of Wisconsin and Lyft to offer ‘Safe Ride’ services to intoxicated patrons.

In an attempt to warn the public of Green Bay, Ride Safe has reported on this relationship between the Tavern League of Wisconsin and Lyft:

We encourage you to view the video contained in the article on the above link.

Additional PSA and warning notifications have been posted to Ride Safe reaching out to communities through out the world.
Each day Ride Safe receives reports of uninsured and criminal rideshare drivers from every corner of the planet.
Complaints about taxi/cab operations are hardly a fraction of the complaints received by comparison to rideshare complaints received.

Arranging a ride in an uninsured vehicle IS NOT a safe or responsible means of providing transportation to an intoxicated patron. Especially when considering the amount of rideshare drivers who have recent DUI convictions currently driving for both Uber and Lyft.

By promoting these programs with rideshare companies, the tavern league of Wisconsin can and WILL be just as liable when yet another incident will occur with yet another uninsured rideshare driver.

Taxis may take longer and cost more but this is because they provide ACTUAL INSURANCE and serve ALL areas, not just selective areas on outrageous surge rates as rideshare companies do.

Being patient and maintaining a SAFE and RESPONSIBLE relationship with INSURED and VETTED taxis to get patrons home safely should be first and foremost in any Tavern League’s agenda for Safe Ride services.

*It is not the intention of Ride Safe to defame or harm the Tavern League of Wisconsin. The responsibility of Ride Safe is to public safety.
It is unfortunate that the Wisconsin Tavern League’s actions in promoting with Lyft directly threaten the safety of tavern patrons and the general public.*

WE DEMAND that the Wisconsin Tavern League end any and all promotions with the Rideshare/TNC companies Lyft and Uber for the purposes of offering transportation (safe ride or otherwise) to Tavern, Bar and Club patrons.

We demand that the Tavern League of Wisconsin ONLY use INSURED and VETTED transportation services for Safe Ride programs.
